PCTFE (Kel-F®) (Polychlorotrifluoroethylene)
B.I.R.S. Machine & Supply distributor of PCTFE sheet & rod.
PCTFE is a fluorocarbon-based polymer and is commonly called Polychlorotrifluoroethylene. The Kel-F® brand was discontinued in December of 1995. Kel-F® is a registered trademark of 3M. The only remaining brand, Neoflon® is made by Daikin Industries of Japan. Daikin Industries PCTFE resin has the same chemical structure and properties as the original Kel-F® brand material.
PCTFE offers very unique combination of physical and mechanical properties, non-flammability, excellent chemical resistance, almost zero moisture absorption, and excellent electrical properties. These characteristics cannot be found in any other thermoplastic fluoropolymer with temperature ranges of -400°F to +400°F. PCTFE also has extremely low outgassing, making it well suited for use in aerospace and flight applications. Certs to MIL-P 55028.
